Things to Remember

Leave the food at home this summer.  Yes, we are serious.  No skittles, Mt. Dew, bags of licorice, etc. Having food, candy, and soda in the cabins makes it really difficult to keep living areas clean and can often present a significant health risk to our campers and staff with serious food allergies.  We provide campers with the chance to make purchases at our camp store during the week.

We provide campers with the chance to make purchases at our camp store during the week.  The store will be open each day and all items at the store will be sold for $1.  Campers will be able to deposit up to $10 in the camp store, to be used throughout the week.  Campers should not have money during the week - as all purchases at the camp store will be made based on the money deposited in camper accounts.  Deposits for store accounts can be made either on the camper registration form or on the first day of camp during camper registration.  The store will have healthy and nutritious snacks and beverages.  In addition, we are encouraging all campers to bring a water bottle or canteen that they can utilize throughout their days at camp to help stay hydrated. Camp Henry T-shirts ($10) and hooded sweatshirts ($30), along with other camp gear are available for purchase the day of check-in and check-out.

One of our goals for every summer camper is to "help make the world a better place". We believe it is important to give back. Some of the opportunities to make the world a better place in 2010 include:

  • We are asking each camper to bring a canned or dry food item along to
registration each Sunday. 58% of the kids in Newaygo County schools qualify for free lunches. Donated items will be given to Love, INC, an area food pantry, and
distributed to families in need.  Last year, summer camp families donated over 1,000 pounds of food!
  • Each camper will have an opportunity to care for camp during their stay at camp. Cabins will work together for one activity time a week and help camp look more beautiful through painting, cleaning, planting flowers or trees, etc.
  • We will encourage each camper to care for this incredible earth through
recycling at camp, reducing food waste and picking up trash whenever we see it.
