Greetings from Camp Henry!

Every now and then I will meet someone in a later stage of life who spent one or more summers at Camp Henry as a child. I love to hear their stories and answer their questions about whether or not we still play this or sing that, it is great! Very often at some point in the conversation the person will say something like this, "The best years of my life were spent at Camp Henry! The values I live my life by or run by business by were formed and solidified at camp!"  Wow! That is a huge statement and for us a huge responsibility!

In our camp language we talk about "changing the world one person at a time" and also about camp being a place that offers everyone a real life glimpse of the world God intends for us and invites us to help create. This is a world where everyone is equal. A world where we seek to be loving, full of joy, peaceful, patient, kind, and good to each other! We seek to celebrate our diversity and discover and unite around the things we all need to experience, like the fact that God loves each of us exactly how we are and that He offers us the best possible way to live! Oh yeah, we are going to have a TON of FUN too!

I believe these are the values the people I mentioned above are referring to. For 73 years Camp Henry has been a place that seeks to share the light and love of God with everyone who comes to camp and then encourages them to not just have a great week and return back to their "normal" life but instead to take this light with them and share it with the world they live in! To bring camp to the neighborhood! To change the world!

So on behalf of our entire staff team and board of directors, we welcome your child! We promise to do our best to fulfill our four goals and help them have the best
summer of their life!
  4 camper goals:

  • Have a ton of fun!
  • To try something new!
  • To experience God’s love
  • To help make the world a better place!

Dennis Van Kampen
Executive Director
Camp Henry

Greetings,

If you are seeking a summer camp experience, where on the last day of camp the campers return home unchanged - then keep looking - because we strongly believe that every camper that attends Camp Henry this summer will return home a different person than they were when they were dropped off.

Of course we expect that parents will still be able to recognize their campers at the end of the week - even though it is very likely that campers will go home with a little bit of paint still on their faces, some clothes that are really dirty, teeth that maybe were not brushed three times every day, and completely worn out.  Yet, we anticipate that you will also recognize some wonderful and potentially life changing differences.  Every summer we see Camp Henry change the way campers view themselves, others, and the world in which they live.

We are blessed to be able to hire and train staff members that are the best of the best.  Each summer I am amazed at the ability of our staff members to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun-loving environment where campers can thrive and grow.

Our hope is to share with all of the campers that living as a Christian is an absolute blast and we will foster an      environment where campers can see Christ shining within and through all of the staff members.

We expect that campers will be arriving home with a heart that is a little fuller, a smile that is a bit brighter, a sense of confidence that runs a bit deeper, and a    burning desire to come back and do it all again.  At Camp Henry, we truly expect     to change the world this summer - one camper at a time.
